The departments core mission is to mold students into modern citizens with foreign language proficiency, professional and international perspectives, and independent thinking skills. The curriculum includes:

  1. Professional English knowledge, including training in linguistics, English language instruction, translation, interpretation, etc.

  2. Applied professional knowledge, including training in the practical areas of commerce and trade, business management, mass media and communication, the hospitality industry, etc.

  3. Computer science and information technology, including training in multimedia technologies, software design, and applications.

  4. Humanities discipline, including development of students to appreciate European and American history, culture, and literature.

The department also has three additional feature domains: (a) English teaching, (b) translation and interpretation, and (c) multimedia teaching. To secure a certificate, students must complete a series of feature domain courses considered electives prior to graduation.
